100% natural organic silk bonnet by Ruskovilla, Finland. A classic Finnish baby layette piece.
A silk bonnet is a beautiful new baby gift - silk is said to be the perfect fibre for a newborn's head and it feels secure and muffles sounds to keep baby feeling the bliss of the womb. The bonnet protects baby’s delicate fontanelle, the fabric around the ears blocks extra noise and the texture of the fabric gently rubs baby’s head which is stimulating for the skin and growth of bones.
Ruskovilla's manually grafted organic silk is the world's most luxurious underwear material. Due to its smooth texture organic silk is a suitable material for anyone with allergies and sensitive skin. Due to a protein structure similar to human skin, silk is especially well-suited for anyone with allergies or sensitive skin. At the end of its lifecycle 100% silk returns back to nature.
Silk keeps you cool when warm and warms up in the cold weather and therefore can be used all year round. Like wool, silk can also absorb moisture without feeling wet.
The importance of a bonnet: A newborn babies head is relatively large compared with the rest of its body which means that the heat loss through the head is significant. A bonnet helps to keep baby's temperature stable. It also protects the baby from the surrounding noise of the environment. The bonnet also massages the baby's head in a soothing way similar to the effect of the womb during pregnancy. Ruskovilla Finland
100% pure organic silk, Ökö-Tex 100 certified.
The silk Ruskovilla use comes from Central China from an organic silk farm located in the Sichuan province. For millennia the mountain slopes have been used to manufacture silk according to the age-old traditions of diverse cultivation culture and hand craft-intensive labor. Their bonnets are hand-made by Ruskovilla's trusted partner in China.
Size: 0-3m, 3-6m (The fit can be adjusted by gathering the extra fabric on top of the head using a silk ribbon for tying)
Care: No washing required before first use, Wash preferably by hand or by using the 30 Celsius degree hand wash program using a biodegradable wool/silk washing detergent. Long-term storage in the original sealable plastic bag (wash before storage), Silk likes airing but a dirty garment shouldn’t be left unwashed for a long time. We recommend the Sonett wool and silk washing liquid for washing and Sonett gall soap for stain removal, Smooth into shape when wet. No not let dry in direct sunlight or near a heating device
Note on using machine wash: Wool washing programmes of washing machines vary massively, therefore we can not grant warranty for any damages. With regards to using your wool/silk washing machine cycle always use cold. If you choose to wash at 30 degrees the machine will still rinse with cold water and this shock to the fibres can cause the wool to shrink.
